where do you stand on refurbished laptops
I was just curious what you guys think about refurbished/re-certified laptops
it seems to me that they are tested before they are re-sold, so it should be ok. my father in-law wants to buy a laptop. he is a little cheap and was asking me about buying a referb. initially I was like "no way" but after doing some reading it seems like it could be ok. |

It depends on the brand, who refurbishes it, and what kind of warranty it has. I trust refurbs out of the Dell and Lenovo outlets.

Asus is a reputable company, so they should be OK. Really, when you choose to be cheap you forfeit your right to complain.

It all depends on who refurbishes the Asus laptop and who sells it. I do not believe that they have their own outlet store, so who is going to be carrying what kind of warranty?

Yes it is a great deal, Take a look at "Compugen" (cfiestore.com), they are Microsoft Authorized Refurbish dealers, and are very highly recommended. I have purchased many, many items from them, take a look at their site and decide...

I use Dell Outlet, Lenovo outlet, and IBM Certified Pre-owned Laptops.
I use the IBM a lot, great deals and never had one that wasn't looking darn near brand new. IBM Products and services - Used laptops — certified by IBM - United States |

For me it would all come down to the warranty. If no problems appear over the the next year, chances are good there were no problems with it when it was returned by the previous owner.
