Laptop for school

Greetings!

I'm looking for a laptop for school use, and narrowed it down to these two:

ASUS 13.3IN I3-2310M 640GB 4GB (ASUS U31SD-A1 I3-2310M 13.3IN HD GeForce GT520 640GB 4GB WIN7 Prem Silver Notebook - ASUS - U31SD-A1) $649.99
ASUS 13.3IN I3-2310M 500GB 4GB (ASUS U31SD-XA1 Core i3 2310 13.3IN HD 500GB 4GB GeForce GT 520 Win 7 Webcam Silver Notebook - ASUS - U31SD-XA1) $589.99

They are pretty much the same as far as I can tell, only differing in HD space. Which seems to be a better pick?

And as always, thanks for your help!

I'd go for more HD space but as long as the battery life is good, I think those models can get 8 or more hours but double check before you buy, either is fine.

Yeah, those models offer around 9 hours of battery life. I figured 500GB should be enough for school use, so I opted for that one. Thanks for your input!

Check an independent reviewers experience of what he or she got for battery life. The manufacturers always "stretch" the truth....because they can get away with it.

Yes indeed, you are quite right; the manufacturer said "up to 10 hours". I looked around and one user said they got around 6-8 hours, while others claiming "excellent battery life", and other reviews getting up to 9 hours.

Maybe up to 10 hours if you turn the monitor off and don't push any keys.
