Can You Hear Me Now???
Getting real close to chunking this IPhone - yeah it's the latest and supposed greatest. Have never had a problem in this house until got this to put it mildly, pos. Dig it, I'm in Dallas so all signals are strong. In my recliner I call out and nothing but hesitation, then call failed. Move to my PC room, answer or make a call and folks keep saying "hello" or can hear only every other word. I go outside on patio and freeze my arse and bravo, all is well. I never hear the phone ring but suddenly see a voicemail ready to be heard and doesn't even show a missed call. Just blowing steam 'cause I know you guys can't fix.

Swap it out for an Android. I'm very happy with my Atrix 2.

I'm fixin' to go to the greasy spoon (not that one) then to AT&T store when they open. Will probably cost me a bunch but there are places that buy used IPhones.

Thanks for the tip.
Got one and like going from Windows to Linux, etc. It's a 4g. Got it for a song. Can at least talk anywhere in the house now w/o cutting out. Am impressed. Now, to add 150 contact #'s. Wouldn't transfer at the store for some reason. 2 different OS I guess. And figure how to untether.

Atrix 4G or Atrix 2?
It doesn't tether unless you actually enable that. Settings, wireless & network, tethering and mobile hotspot. |

One thing I found out - it will say "4G" when it's only on 3G. When it's on 2G (EDGE) it will say "E" and when it's on the old GPRS it will say "G". It won't say anything when it's on a non-data capable network, it will just show the signal bars.

How can you know it's only on 3g when it says 4?

You can't without a coverage map.

The problem might be the providers signal strength and not the phone itself. The only thing I can think of is to try someone else's cellphone who has a different provider at your house and see what signal strength you get.

Looks like the new phone took care of that issue, David.

I hate cell phones. I am so annoyed with people telling me that I never answer my phone. 75% of them do not leave messages so I don't call them back. They say I am rude... hmm sorry but if it were important, don't you think they would leave a message? I do not use it driving, I am driving. I even have bluetooth. Some people actually remember the day when there were phone booths.
I am amazed at how many people have their face in them things 24/7. Drive a short trip somewhere and count the number of cars with people on their cell phones.... bet it is more than 50%. What is the fascination with talking on these things? Do people really have that much to say? My wife averages 6000+ minutes a month.... that is 100 hours or 3.3 hours a day! She is a traveling VP and the majority is work but come on, that is ridiculous. I was on mine 400 minutes which is about 350 too many for my liking. |

I was annoyed at the ATT store. Guy has been there for the longest. Since I change phones about as often as building another PC I always nab him versus the fresh faces. I walk by each day on way to greasy spoon he waves. Enough of that. I couldn't get voicemail all day and I get a bunch. Kept seeing a bunch of missed calls from parents, etc. Being at VA had to call customer service. Dude hadn't put the voicemail on yesterday. Then couldn't access the Net to sell a bunch of stock b4 hosed again. I'm still tallying up what that cost me, measured in minutes. VA don't have WiFi so I got hosed again. He forgot to add that feature also.
Both features I've always had. I did notice Alberto had this thing in his ear and talking to someone (bluetooth thing) the whole time and ignoring me. I keep reading about ATT having negative customer satisfaction and now maybe I can see why. Letters of instruction will be sent. Being a retiree and huge stockholder and knowing the fellers I once trained, I know how the game is (was) played. They have my Uverse, Internet, 4 cell numbers and a landline. BTW, customer service from the phone both times was excellent and got me fixed in a jiffy. Sorry, Alberto.

Alberto needs to go to manner school. If I owned that business, I would have a talk with him. He would be fired if he did not follow the rules.
