Loose wire syndrome

Hi Guy's. Got a problem. I have been given a Q-Media PC Tablet running Android 2.3 I believe. It has WiFi. I do not have WiFi on my Desktop. This is where my problem begins. I desperately want to connect to the Internet with my Tablet, mainly to download a copy of the Android Game."Machinorium". I have been told that I can go out and use any WiFi set up in various cafes and what-have-you, but I do not go out ( I am almost 80 years old) for health reasons, cancer, etc. What I want to know, is, can I connect the Q-Media Tablet to my desktop computer and download the android game through it? Is it possible and if so what would I need to be able to do it. I thought it might be possible to download the game onto a 16GB Micro SD card which I have in the Tablet.
Maybe if someone downloaded this game onto my Micro SD card for me, would it install on the Q-Media and work? All very confusing to me, but I know that there are many friends on this forum who are very very knowledgeable. Does anyone have a minute to help me out? Thank you for all you have done for me. Regards Walt.

Here's the link to the manual for your tablet : http://download.chinavasion.com/download/PC13.pdf

Your device should support a micro sd card and you should be able to transfer data that way.
You should also be able to hook up the tablet to your computer via a USB cable and transfer data that way as well : http://www.idolian.com/Member/Idolia...#_Toc306979735

What you have to do is load the game on to the tablet's internal memory, do not leave it on the micro SD card.

What you need is a wireless router, you don't have to have wireless on the desktop, can you have someone come to your place and set that up for you?

That would make your tablet use far more enjoyable.

Hi PAM123. Real thrill hearing from you this morning. Thank you so much for the links. The manual for starters is more than I expected, when I initially tried to locate one It seemed at first that this particular tablet did not exist. Now at last I have a chance to sort this tablet out and maybe, just maybe get the game installed onto it. What lovely people you all are. I shall return soon (I hope|) and tell you how I get got on. No chance of being able to buy a wireless usb gadget, sadly, but hopefully I shall get by on this occasion. Regards and thanks. Walt

A wireless router would go between the modem and your desktop and attach to the same port the modem uses now.
I don't know about UK prices but a serviceable one can be had over here for $25.
You'd need someone to configure it for you and then you'd be good to go.
Consider it a project for a later date.

I used my admin powers and see you are using ADSL. Can you tell us what equipment is between your phone line and computer? I assume it's an ADSL modem of some sort - a brand and model number would help - and how is it connected to your computer, is it USB or Ethernet?

Grandad. Is your Internet Service Provider Karoo via a BT phone line?
If it is, you most likely have the Netgear DG834G wireless modem/router.
Does your modem/router resemble the one in the link below?
