I know this isn't going to happen, however I wish that I would network my older 233 computer with 64 to slave it to my 450 with 256 meg of ram...so that when I am working my main computer it could use the processor and 64 of the slaved computer....I would look at it as a cheap upgrade for those of us that have some spare or barely used part around. my 233 only gets use when I go to ppl's house or when I travel.....

Thats what I always wanted to do. Having a older computer, I thought maybe, just maybe, I could use the two computers in combination to use the power of both. Kind of like dual procs but with dual motherbards, hard drives, disk drives, sound cards, modems, and cd-roms. If I had some junk computers lying around I would try it, but...*sigh*

Lightbulb

I have the spare hardware, I know what would have to be done, however I have no clue on how to do it...

First one would need a Sever and Client based software package. Run the Server on the main machine. Have it sent data to the slave machine running client...Then the client would process and return the processed data to the Server Machine, then the process starts over....maybe we could get some programmer together to and make this...

Oh yee of little faith!
What you describe is BeoWulf!
Linux has this where multiple systems work in parallel with one another. The programs are developing and BeoWulf has long since been stable and out of beta.
I think "mandrake" 6.1 and higher gives you all the software needed to "parallel" multiple systems. Linux also supports SMP (multiple CPU`s) *natively*!
But...if you wish your Micky$oft O/S to have these capabilities..you`ll have to wait...Micky$oft is in court...and jumping in the sack with AT&T...

Toaster, If I was good enough with Linux I would not need my M$, however I am a rookie with linux. Plus If I could use linux it is fast enough without having to do all of that trouble. I am looking for a way to speed up a windows machine....and games....I figure a 10BT nic would be a good enough connection, however a 10/100 nic woundn't hurt...
