I am interested in playing around with some forum software. Could anyone point me to some free forum software, perhaps the software used for the pcmech forums?
Thanks |

vBulletin is not free, however, you may want to check out this free BB: http://www.phpbb.com/

I guess I was more interested in anybody's experience with various forum softwares and their opinions of them.

The main 3 are VBulletin, PHPBB, and Invision Power Board. Vb is the best but youll have to pay. PHPbb is the best 'open source' type of board, very active dev team, support right round the corner and easy to code addons. Invision is the best 'professional' free board but the support isnt that good, slow dev and the liscencing is a bit funny.

^ XMB is VERY good, I always use it. Mods are very helpful.....They also provide
a hosting place for hosting the forums...(dont know if they still do that).... But xmb rocks, I have used VB(same as this site uses) and I find xmb to be much more newbie-friendly. But if you have exp. use VB 8raker
