Photo Gallery

I want to put a photo gallery on the personal web-space provided by my isp...is there a free program that I can use to do this?

I would like to create albums with thumbnails and so on.

Any suggestions?

The two best with plenty of options are: Gallery and Coppermine.

For Gallery you have to run your own server...right?

Nope, your only requirements are PHP and enough space to hold your images.

Actually, I've used IrfanViewer and is very easy to use (recommended to me by glc), versatile, uses a template format...it can guide you step by step for the most part. I'd highly recommend that - I used it for my webpage and looks nice.

Hope that helps,
kram

The major difference is that products like gallery and coppermine do all of the work for you. You create an album upload the pictures, add captions and it resizes the pictures and makes thumbnails along with a slideshow and optional link to an online photo printer. Tons of features with far less work since there is no need to create pages.

Do you have a link to your page to see what the albums look like?

Thanks!

It's not that you need PHP experience, just need to have it installed on your ISPs server (which most do not do, unless you pay for the space).

Most ISP's that I have dealt with do have PHP but not MySQL by default. You don't really need experience in PHP since it has an install script.
