website

I made a website with FrontPage. I made it to fit an 800 by 600 screen. On most computers the view of the picture I inserted is right in the middle of the left and right links. Some people have been calling me to say that the picture is overlapping the links to the right and they can't open them. Why would this look OK on most computers but not on others? I checked the resolution of thier computer and it is not the problem.

Knowing what browser those people are using is also a plus. MS FrontPage is great, but in some instances can write IE specific code that can prevent it from displaying properly in other browsers (Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, etc). Also, what version of FrontPage did you use? As mairving said, link would be helpful.

hi...i am using Firefox 0.9 and it looks fine to me. I would ask to people who brought up this situation what browser they are using. Maybe its Opera or Safari that is having difficulties browsing your site . hth.

I'm using Opera 7.5 and it's fine here. These kinds of problems may be very browser VERSION specific, so ask which browser and what version of that browser they're using. Personally, I'm betting it's an old Netscape or IE.

Try using the
PHP Code:
<align="center"> </center
tag around everything.

More than likely you are having two separate problems. One is that at lower resolutions the links will move from the right side to the left when the screen is resized. Mostly cause by the poor coding by Frontpage. The links not be able to open is probably an entirely different problem caused by spaces in the web page. Some browsers particularly older ones don't interpret spaces very well and sometimes can't find the page. As a general rule it is advisable to make your pages all lowercase and use _ instead of spaces.

Quite a few validation errors on the page doesn't help.

Links all work OK. The errors are due to copy and pasting items from the old site and dragging some of the old code along with it. The old site used php code.

Seems no matter what I do on the fronp page of the site it will not look right on some computers. It looks great on mine but off center on theirs. I decided to leave it blank. I am studying different ways of developing the site.
