Need some help customising PHPBB2 forum
Hi everyone,
I've finally got the long awaited website somewhere resembling finished, but i've got a couple of problems. One of which is customising the PHPBB2 forum, I wanted to add a link back to my site from the forum, so i've added a link in the group with the buttons for the memberlist, login, profile buttons etc (top right). but i'm not sure how to add an image next to the link, any ideas? Here's a link to my forum www.ukdjforum.com/forum And i've attached the .tpl file I edited to add the link (i've renamed it as .doc (ms word) as I formatted it to show the change in red . Does anyone know where I can get a small home image to use in the forum, something similar size to the existing icons. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

To add an image, use this:
<a href="http://www.ukdjforum.com" class="mainmenu"><img src="image.jpg" border="0" alt="Go Back To Site">Go Back To Site</a> Should use the full path in the link to image. You might search PHPBB Hacks for an image.

I just added a separate navigation section under the buttons. It was pretty simple to do. Another option is to make the header image at the top of the forum into a link that directs the user back to the main site.

That looks really good, how easy is it to add some of the mods from www.phpbbhacks.com, I was thinking about the one that gives info about the forum back to your site homepage and the one that gives an attachment management system.

It's not too hard. Just backup EVERYTHING before you start modding your php files. I went through some small headaches re-tracing my mistakes. I believe the mods are rated from beginner to expert. I would try out a simple one before diving into an in-depth mod.
I used phpbb-fetch-all to create my portal page (homepage). Once it's up, you can edit the actual layout using regular html. Then to change the content, you just edit the forum posts. |

Well, I tried doing the attachment mod and it all went a little pear shaped (lukily I set PHPBB up on my home PC for testing the mods before I even attempt uploading them). Restored that, installed a portal mod, looks quite good but had a little trouble getting to grips with how content is displayed.
