really really new newbie, needs some help
my current experience with site building is about 4 hours and im having some trouble with outside sources viewing my site. i should start by saying that im basing it out of my comp, and i followed the create a server tutorial on the main page http://www.pcmech.com/show/network/690/. so i have appserv up and running, and no-ip (my/the/a duc) and i can view my pages as a site from my computer using http://localhost and my file path, however no one can access it from outside of my machine as of yet. my host is rommelja.no-ip.org and im not sure where to go from there my file path could be any part of C:\AppServ\www\page1\doc1.htm. and my file is legit and works with browsers on my comp so i dont think its a problem
i know this is kinda jumbled and confusing but im pretty confused, so thanks for your help in advance and if you need any more info let me know and i'll try to find it. Last edited by ratastic; 10-02-2004 at 12:24 AM. |

Homie g dawg, what they do to access your site (and your pc has to be on so they coulod access the info) is type http://rommelja.no-ip.org/page1/doc1.htm or you could substitute from the "/page1/doc1.htm" with anything you need, remember, after the rommelja.no-ip.org goes a forward slash then to whatever you need to access, so if you need to access a folder called files you would type in http://rommelja.no-ip.org/files/ put a forward slash at the end, it seems to work better, if you want to go directly to the file, just add the file name at the end " http://rommelja.no-ip.org/files/filename.jpeg " or w/e you need, in your case it would be http://rommelja.no-ip.org/page1/doc1.htm , if it still doesnt work, are you sure appserv supports htm? ill check it out and post later, hope this info helps you out bud.
