Most popular Web Development language

What do you guys think is the most used web development language?? I ask because whatever it is, I think I would like to learn it. So, ColdFusion, JavaScript, PHP, ASP, etc. what do you guys think?

I've read that PHP holds 50% of the market and it's still growing. Don't quote me on this though, because it might not be true.

Web Dev? I'm pretty sure it's PHP - it's eversogrowing and it's very versatile. Plus, I think it's the easiest to deal with.

Oftentimes you are better off learning to program rather than learning a particular language. C is often a good choice of learning to program. Once you have mastered it most other languages and the concept of programming comes easier.

Well i'm in some Java courses at college right now, that are gicing me hell, I've worked ( rather had my hand held) using ASP to connect a website to DB, but it seemed easier than Java does now... I like HTML and web stuff better than just programming... I don't want to write apps and stuff, but doing web stuff excites me.

PHP is probably the most popular language right now. ASP is likely right behind it, followed by CGI and Java. JavaScript is just that, a scripting language, as is VBScript - not to mention they are client side so incapable of interacting with server-side databases, thus less versatile than PHP/ASP/CGI/JAVA.

I prefer PHP myself, when I did Web Dev.

Amen!
.. that is by far the best advise you will hear when asking for information on a good web dev language. Far too many people are out coding without knowing the rudiments of coding, everything from writing good code to utilizing the language to the fullest.
