Angry photos in web page

I'm not sure where to post my problem, so I'll start here.
I've just posted my first try at making a web page, and putting it on the Internet. All looked O.K. until I checked the web page, I had put on the web.
The photos I put on the web, only show up with a red x, with no photo.
I used Photo shop 5 to put the photos on the web. The photos were jpeg.
The whole web page looked good, that I sent to the web.
Should I try another graphics software, or is there another answer to my problem. Thanks, to all in advance. webbie.

Hi webbie

It's usually a simple problem.

What's the URL, it might help with the diagnosis?

Likely causes would be:

different names for the jpeg, in other words the jpeg is referenced in the html as pic1.jpeg but saved as pic0ne.jpeg

also sometimes I've forgotten to upload the pics into the right folder before, often I'll call all pics from a folder named images in the html but occasionally I upload the pics to a different folder like the home folder.

It's not likely a problem with your photo editing software

Give the website info maybe(address), along with what you have assigned for where teh photo to be ([img src="_________"](with the []'s in place of the <>'s)), and then where you have the image located(http://www.yourwebsite.com/some/folder/yourpic.jpg). That would be a good place to start figuring out what went wrong, as you may be directing the site to look in the wrong place for the image.

You uploaded your web page to your ISP but did you also upload the pictures?

3 Probable causes.

1.) Wrong path. Came from your PC at something like c:\picture.jpg. Uploaded but path needs to be changed to the web path http://. In your case, this probably isn't the cause because they would show up anyway since they do exist at that path. They wouldn't show up for others. Right-clicking on the picture can determine it's path.
2.) Case sensitivity. Windows doesn't distinguish between picture.jpg and picture.JPG but it would be a different file on a 'nix server. It is a good idea to always name pictures with lowercase letters and use underscores instead of spaces.
3.) Picture weren't uploaded.

What was the problem? Future reference for anyone that might search, it's always nice to have a conclusion to a mystery

yea i was having problem with this too now. I have tried everything that came to my mind and well im still stuck. I saved the image in C:\webpage and the name of the image is greendragon. Well wht i did was < img src:'C:\webpage\greendragon.jpg" > and well it didn't work. I saved the image in my pictures and tried from there and it didn't work. I dunno whts wrong. any suggestions? I had to put spaces between the < and > so that it didn't go to the pic on here.
-thanks.
