Where to take classes in Canada?

Hi, I am interested in taking some classes on web site development, html, etc. I am also looking for what courses I would need to provide tech support or be an IT pro. I am looking to open my own business on the side for now doing tech support, site design, general pc help and posibly building systems for resale. I live in Edmonton Alberta, Canada.

If anyone has suggestions on courses and which programs I should learn I would appreciate it.

Courses:
Check out a local community college (I don't know if thats what they are called in canada - small, 2 year colleges) and take courses similar to:
HTML
Dreamweaver
CSS
Javascript
Flash

As for what programs to learn, learn as many as you can. Every little bit helps. Never stop learning, trying new things, and tweaking them. It will help considerably in the long run.

I would further suggest buying books or reading online information to learn on your own. I believe some people would learn the material faster, better, and at less cost then in a class.

Another reason I'd suggest learning on your own, is so that you don't get a professor forcing bad habits on your design style. I don't know how common it is, but in a writing class I took we did a fair amount of web design, and the professor did her best to teach us many bad web design techniques - which may have been acceptable if she had informed the class that many people consider them poor techniques - but she presented them as the best way to solve certain things. Some examples of these things are using frames, using inline styles (those are fine but she never mentioned external style sheets), and using Dreamweaver's automatically generated flash buttons (I shudder at the thought of 30 students thinking that making flash navigation buttons is acceptable).

Moderators - Can I post a link to a site that does this or is that breaking a rule?
