ASP Counting Question
Ok, in ASP, books teach you how to know the number of records in recordset object by using the .RecordCount method.

Is there a way to determine the TOTAL number of records in a database table without using recordset to save resources?
Or do you have to keep a separate counter to keep track of this?

I use VBScript to code ASP
