Requirments for SSL?

What are the requirments of running an SSL site?

We have microsoft exchange 2003 but we don't have a web mail site that one can go to if they are off site and I want to make it an SSL site but I am not entirely sure on what is required to run an SSL site to have people access their e-mails from the web. Does it have to be a certificate server? Just looking to see what is required and what bumps I may run into. Thanks

Not really much of a problem. I use Geotrust for my SSL's. Click on their support and it will tell you how to generate and install a cert for IIS-6. Just a little tip. Be careful what you generate the cert for. For instance, if you generate a cert for www.domainname.com it won't work for domainname.com (without the www). A new cert is $169/yr and renewals are $149/yr.

Is Verisign worth the price or is GeoTrust just as good? I notice the price difference between the 2 is pretty big for a one year cert but Verisign says they have "true" 128-bit encryption.

Verisign has priced themselves out of existence. They also bought Thawte to kill some of the competition. I think it is True 128-bit Encyption, not "True" 128-bit Encryption. That is just their product name for it. Geotrust is quite good and I have never had a problem with them. I have even had to have a cert reissued and had no problems there. Here is a Geotrust vs. Verisign comparison. Bottom line is that Verisign is not just overpriced, they are way overpriced.
