PHP Bulletin Board is free, easy to setup and works quite well. Plenty of hacks for it as well although they require some experience.

Which hosting package do you have?

If it is the Instant Website one then I do not think you have any server side script support and so you will not be able to host a forum.

If it is one of the MS ones (I run a forum and other stuff off a MS Business account), but if you are on the home account I do not think you can use a database and so cannot run a forum. If you have Business or above then you might want to look at Web Wiz Forums, which will run on them.

If you have Linux hosting then the Home account has a forum included in the CGI Library, and the others have this and should also be able to handle PHPBB or other forum software.

What I would do is keep the forum seperate from what you are making in Website Creator since then you can have more control over what you do, and all the forum pages do not count as pages from the website creator.

Instead link to where the forum is in your webspace, ie www.mydomain.co.uk/forum and then link to that from Website Creator. If you are happy using the cgi scripts then this should be easy, but if you want a more feature rich forum try looking at phpbb as recommended by mairving, the instructions for installation are at http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/#section2 .

PHPBB is pretty easy to setup. It has a web-based install script that wallsYou don't really need any programming skills unless you want to add some of the addon hacks for it. Your only need will be to setup a database first.

I would try to do it and if you have any questions or need help just post back here. Be glad to help you set it up if you need.

You'll want to install a MySql database. I think if you read the install instructions installing a MySql database should probably be done first. I played around with runcms and as along as you had a working database server installation and a database to point it to during installation it configured the database the way it wanted it. I would imagine PHPBB would do the same. It really pays to read all the install readmes and the like on a project like this.

You don't need to use PHPMyAdmin to connect to the database to install PHPBB. If you have a database all you will need for the database part is:
database name:
database user:
database password:

You tell it those on the first page of the setup script.
