icons

how do i turn pics (gif,jpeg,tiff...) into icons?

Someone told me this tip but never tried it.

1. Open the image in Paint .
2. Resize it to 32 X 32.
3. Then save it with an extension .ico .

no go.
don't know how to resize the object (not the canvas) in paint.
no .ico option.

Yes, it does work that way.

You don't need an .ico option, you just write .ico when you save it

Right. You could create the image for the icon in Photoshop or something else, then copy it over to paint and save as filename.ico

i must be getting dumber.
can i resize it in paint and keep the entire pic? it seems to cut off the pic.

Sure. Go to image, then stretch (or similar). Enter the amount in % that you want to stretch.

Cutting off would be attributes. That's the wrong option.

apparently i had to save it as BMP image and name it *.ico
