Cool Are there Cons for Web Dev?

I have been an avid gamer for years and have enjoyed attending gaming conventions. However, I have never been able to find something along the same lines for web building. Not a one company sponsered event. I have seen them for podcasts, gaming, and other tech. Am I missing something? I figured living around Dallas that something may come through town.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I don't know much about that area, but I am sure you could probably organize one yourself... it might cost a bit of money, but do something like 25$ to get in, then have web hosting companies and stuff sponsor the event and have booths and stuff to advertise, then do what ever else you want.

I would like to attend and maybe even put on a con in which small to large software / hardware companies that have products for web development. Plus, have side seminars relating to specific topics. (i.e. implementing the rigth CMS for your needs)

The forums are great and I have found many answers to my questions however, I think a large gathering of people is a good way to share ones thoughts and ideas. Plus, you may even learn about some new software or tricks.

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand what your trying to do. Do you want a whole bunch of gaming companies such as Atari, Revolution Studios, Novalogic, America's Army, and the like to come to your town under a major convention such as E3?

These kind of conventions are held all the time. Are you talking about a specific language such as the PHP or Microsoft conventions? There are also "trade shows" that target a specific development audience. The best place to look is on their websites (Google search what you are looking for).

There might also be a local user's group. Maybe not specifically for web development, but maybe for development in general.

faulkner132 - I have done many web searches without success. The hits I usually get are trade show supply companies or hosting companies. I have taken the time to e-mail many web development companies and have yet to receive a response.

For me and maybe others the ideal convention would not be limited to one language such as PHP. I would like to be able to a attend a class or seminar covering multiple topics. Maybe one day cover building an photo gallery or dealing with security in Dreamweaver.

I may be wrong but I think that something like this is in demand however, I can't seem to find it.

Ok let me rephrase my question. Are you wanting a sponser to set up a learning center in a city (such as Dallas). An actual physical building? Are you wanting to make a website? Are you needing a sponsor (a webhost) that will give you the webspace and a forum for free? Are you needing a person that can design and setup a site and forum community? Sorry if I'm pestering, but I just can't seem to understand the question .

There are a small number of yearly web development conventions. There was just one about web 2.0 not too long ago.

I have a couple of websites that I have already built and host myself. I do not want to set-up a builiding. I would just like to attend a conference such as the one Force Flow mentioned. I am just having a heck of time finding a credible listing.

I would not mind even a little travel (within reason) to get to the conference. I am just looking for a web dev instensive weekend that would allow me to learn and converese with others.
