Programming... (VBS and C)
Hi guys,
I have been involved in this kind of question here before but just to refresh (the summer holidays are coming up soon so I'll have 6 weeks with no hassle to try and learn some programming language) WHICH LANGUAGE SHOULD I LEARN FIRST AND HOW SHOULD I DO IT? I have no problem with getting books and downloading compilers and stuff. The language I am interested in at the moment is Visual Basic, is there anything I can download/get from a cover CD that would allow me to make my own Visual Basic applications This would keep me from being bored throughout the holidays and would give me something to do and show off afterwards Jim PS. What is the difference between the version numbers of Visual Basic??

A lot of the Visual Basic books come with a free compiler. It doesn't include everything that you could get if you had Visual Studio, but it is a good way to start learning. As far as the version numbers for VB go, each version higher just includes more functions and such for VB.

Also, learn C++ in place of C -- OOP makes things much nicer.
