I maintain my companies intranet site. This site was developed by a former employee. We use Frontpage 2003 to maintain the site.
I can do the basics but I have since added a web based appplication server that users simply click the icon on the intranet which then launches the application on another server. All is fine but I just installed a second server at a different location that performs the same function. The reason was to cut down on network traffic across an already troublesome frame relay circuit. To prevent some locations from accessing the second server I would like to restrict access to the hyperlink except from the locations I choose. Can this be done? What I was thinking is location "A" has an IP range of 123.xxx.xxx.001 to 123.xxx.xxx.254 and location "B" has an IP range of 456.xxx.xxx.001 to 456.xxx.xxx.254 If a person at location "A" clicks on the icon on the intranet they are directed to server "A" and if a person at location "B" clicks on the same icon they are directed to server "B". Can this be done and if so how? |

The only way I see of doing this would be to make a second icon pointing to the new server, and giving people in the "A" group one icon and giving the "B" group other group the other.

Is there a way to block access to certain ICONS on the web page? |
