PHP and proxy server
Hi,
I work part-time at a high school. We charge students for internet use and last year we were using an offsite company to manage our internet user accounts. This year we decided to purchase some extra servers to host our charging in-house using software called PaperCut on Windows Server 2003. This has the benefit of both cost-cutting as well as it linking with Active Directory, avoids double handling user accounts. Previously, a student logged onto a computer (we use Macs). Then when they opened their browser, they were greeted with the Intranet page. Then when they requested an external site, they were prompted to re-enter their login details to access the proxy server and activate charging through the 3rd party company. Now, a student logs on they start their browser, it askes them to login before the intranet page displays (on a Mac)....on the PC's it doesn't ask them to login again. There is no problem with this....its more convenient then the previous system. What I'd like to know, can I use PHP or javascript to "capture" the login details they enter into the browser? (or on a PC, get the details from Windows). I would like to use those details to show custom information on the intranet page....eg. showing saved favourites or custom messages etc. without them having to login a third time. I intend on using PHP and MySQL as I have experience with them. I just need to know if it is possible to get these details. Thanks in advance. Nickuss.
