How do you feel about my website?

I was curious, how do people feel about the design/look? Some people I have spoken too mention the game window (400x300) is too small, are they right? Any suggestions, improvements, comments?

Thanks,

First timers posting links is considered spamming. Normally we ban them. In your case, I'm just gonna remove the link.

I think that's strange. Why in the forum DESCRIPTION does it SAY;

"Want to know what others think of your site? Ask here.."

Because we have many members that have been here for quite some time that have developed sites and have asked for opinions. However, we also get a lot of folks that post here only to draw traffic to their site. We ban them on site. Yours is suspect for that reason.

So in order to get help I must wait six months and burrow myself on the forums for several hours a day helping others? The ability to ask for help about web design is only for those who have been here for a long time? Do you really feel so inclinded to assume the only reason I signed up to this forum was to "boost up" my hits? Why on earth would I do that? What do you think I googled to find this forum? WHO DOES THAT? I doubt anyone, and I feel very upset that you would assume this about me. However, I respect your judgement, and quite frankly, I do not feel welcome here.

So, before I leave, I ask one simple question; do you know of any other forums that promote the ability to ask for help AND actually allow what they promote? Or can you not provide that, as it would be spamming?

I don't see what the harm is in him asking for our opinion. As someone new to web design and someone who really needs to work on improving the appearance of my webpages, I don't see the harm in allowing him to post a link to his site and asking for some help. While I understand the desire to keep the spaming levels low and the refusal to use PCM to increase trafic, I think that we shouldn't deny anyone the chance to hear some advice from some members who really know their stuff and can be a real help. But, you're the moderator - and the choice is yours.

Believe it or not, people do come here and spam it up - not just in attempts to advertise, but also to draw attention to their sites. While the # of posts shouldn't determine the level of respect you are treated with, you have to understand that Panama Red has been around here for a long time, and is a wonderful member who helps out lots of people, but also has probably discovered that most people whose first post contains a link to their site are in search of free advertising.

Tell ya what I'm gonna do for ya. Send me a pm with a link to your web site. I'll post it for review by all the other mods/admins. If collectively they feel I've made a bad call, I'll repost it here.

I agree with your statement ryan, perhaps, you could give your opinions on my webpage? Obviously, I would not be able to share the link over these forums, as that is far too out of line, perhaps through email?

EDIT: just saw your message above me, I sent you a private message.

?!? What the hell are you so pissed off? This is a MESSAGE BOARD. This website is for the public to discuss things/concerns they have, and get other peoples opinions/advice on things. I don't understand what has happened.

I mean, some guy just comes to the website for the first time, and asks someone for their opinion on their website. I don't see any problem with that question, I dont see a problem at all. But, as Ryan said, it's your message board, and you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

myrgo31, it's been nice knowing you. You are now banned for violating Rule 7.

Quote:
Treatment of Moderators
Any form of moderator harassment including insults, failing to delete a thread that you were asked to delete, doing the opposite of something you were asked to do, reposting a thread that was deleted, or protesting a ban will result in a ban. If you complain about what you feel are shortcomings of the current moderation team, either real or imaginary, you will be banned. If you don't like it here, feel free to leave. The mods are here to do a job. You will find the mods are easy-going people with "live, let live" philosophies as long as the rules are complied with. But, part of the etiquette here is to respect those with that responsibility. If you feel a change of policy is in order or that a moderator should reconsider something, always feel free to email or send a private message. We will not argue or debate moderator action or policy in public.
Thread is closed until we finish discussing the original issue in the staff forum.

We have decided to put the link back in so that the site can be looked at.

http://wastetheweb.com/

As far as the review goes, the site is not bad. I would probably make shorter pages and then link to the various categories. You could have 2-4 of your most popular games in each category followed by a more games... link.

Site looks pretty nice. I find the fonts a little small and difficult to read. You could instead of having "Play This Waste" links, simply make the image a link also, but I like the yellow on black contrast. (Just some ideas I am throwing around). The page is long, dividing them into sections would be great, maybe just have the "Best of Sport" and "Best of xyz" and below list the top 4 or 6, then a link to " More in this category".

Thanks for the suggestion guys and thanks for putting my post back up again. I am thinking of creating what you suggested, a page for each genre, and just show the top of each genere on front page. Any more advice?
