Do you want to register a domain name or host a website?
GoDaddy is probably the best known discount domain registrar. They also offer cheap hosting, but it's not very good, you can do better elsewhere. |

Yes, I do want to register a domain name and want to set up a webpage for a business that I am just getting off the ground. I do not know anything about the website/web hosting process. But I am very adept at learning new things and want to do this in the most effective way to get the most out of web presence. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I always hosted with http://www.brinkster.com/
I've been with them for several years and had several of my clients sent there. Their technical support is superb at the least, and downtime is very rare. Plus, you can tailor your plan to your needs. They now offer Linux hosting as well as Windows. We need to know more details before we can recommend a host for you. What do you plan on developing the website in? Just plain HTML? ASP/PHP? .NET? Flash? Do you expect many visitors? What about bandwidth? Will you have large files downloaded from your website? Offer us any other information you might find useful.

Yahoo has the best deal on domain names. They were running a special for $1.99 a year. They are very high quality.
I use http://www.surpasshosting.com

Domain registrars are all so cheap now it really doesn't matter who you go with. Personally, I use GoDaddy, just because I have used them for years. It's best to find one place and stick with them, not worth shopping around just to save $5 a year.

I am moving this thread over to the proper forum.
Do use GoDaddy as a registar. When registering, ignore all of the extras that they want to sell you except for maybe private domains. Don't use GoDaddy for hosting. Check out this thread for ideas on hosts.
