a page that pays
I've made my own web pages for a few years now nothing special just basic stuff but now I might have a chance to make one for someone that will pay me but the problem is I don't know what to charge !!!!
What do people that make web pages charge? it will basically be allot of pictures with text telling about each picture. |

Per hour is really the only fair way to do it. I do $25 per hour standard development. David, PCMech's CEO, does development for $60 per hour.
Difference: he has a college degree and a strong portfolio to back him up.

The first rule of business is to charge as much as you think you can get. I've seen people, especially businesses, pay up to $5,000 per page just for a brochure website. I also saw a business pay $250,000 for a CMS licenses that didn't do anything Mambo could do. I didn't do that though, and eventually the client will find out and get mad at you.

When I usually do web design/dev, I've either gave a quote for the whole job or fee per hour, depending on what type of customer it is. Some customers prefer to know how much something will cost beforehand, rather than an estimate worked by how much you charge by hour. Because of my age (16), and only basic qualifications people try to get away with stupidly low prices with me, but as Tyler has said, a good portfolio is important.
