Javascript Question

I have a friend who builds websites and he has asked me to either find a free javascript or at least a term that can do this: He wants to have a section of the page where things like news scroll vertically to stop occasionally so that users can read the headlines on it. If anybody knows how to do this I'd really appreciate the input, since my knowledge of JS is very limited.

try looking @ DynamicDrive.
There are plenty of sites that offer free scripts for personal use, but this site has professional quality scripts.
