Book Recommended for Beginning Programming...?
What books would you recommend to purchase to have a basic fundamental understanding of most programming languages or, specifically, C++? Thanks.

Before you learn C++, you should really learn C. "X for Dummies" books are usually a good starting point. They explain stuff very well and after reading you should know the basics.

A series of books that I would recommend are the In Easy Steps series. They present information in a clear and structured way and makes the topic easy to understand.

Another vote for the 'dummies' books - they have helped me getting into programming, though now I mostly use the internet as a resource.
