Changinging HTML editors in IE

I have never had trouble changing the HTML Editor in IE, but after formatting my hard drive and reloading XP and all updates, I am no longer able to select a new HTML Editor when I open ”IE/File/Edit With“ If you believe what Microsoft says, it’s as simple as pie. But that is not the case.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs. Select the default program that you want MS IE to use when editing a page.

Thank you for your reply, That is the problem, IE tools / Internet Options / Programs now contains 2 editors, Front-page and Notepad, it will not allow me to select another editor. I could always select another editor before I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP & sp-2. Do you have any ideas? Mentordas

Do you have any anti-spyware, i.e. Spybot S&D installed? Some of them can prevent changes these settings.

I use Norton 2006 and Ad-Aware SE for spyware plus any others that XP uses. I will un-install Ad-Aware and disable all other spyware. thanks for the tip:

I did all the things you mentioned and it still did nor work. I am afraid that it will have to be changed in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / MICROSOFT / INTERNET EXPLORER / DEFAULT_HTML_EDITORS

I need help with the script from this point on. Can you help? thanks
