Web Design Courses: CIW Master Designer
Hello everyone,
I am contemplating doing the CIW Master Designer Certification over the next 12 months. I have spent the last couple of weeks researching the subject of 'web design certification' and came to the concluusion that this course would be the most useful to myself. I was just wondering if any of you guys were familiar with with the CIW certification and what your views on it were. Also, would this certification form a good basis for a career in Web Designing? Course Topics (pdfs) 1) Foundations1, Foundations2, Foundations3 2). Site Designer 3). Ecommerce Designer Many thanks in advance Pryse |

Having a CIW cert is not very helpful in my opinion. I have seen very few companies that know what it is let alone make it a condition of employment.

hello mairving,
I realise companies might not recognise the CIW certification, but do you think the topics covered in the course cover enough 'useful' skills and knowledge? And in your opinion what would be the best Certification to get in order to start a Web Design career? Cheers |

There are plenty of website and books where you can learn in depth knowledge of HTML, design, coding, etc., a good portion of which is free. Getting a cert doesn't really help in getting a web design career...actually designing websites does far more. |
