Imbedding an image in Outlook and Outlook Express!

I have been trying to imbed a screenshot directly into emails. I have both applications formated for html and have tried several different codes, however, all I can get are links in the mail to the hosting site: http://xs.to/ I'm not interested in an attachment or a link. I've tried inserting the direct link prefaced with

I don't think you can embed an image that's hosted on another site. It'll just give you a link to go to (like you've already noticed). The only way I ever embed images is by putting the image on my hard drive. When you get to the point in your new email message that you want to put a picture, go to the Insert menu at the top of the page and select Picture. It'll give you the typical search box to find it with, so just click on Browse, find where you saved the picture to your hard drive, and select it, then hit Okay. It should put the picture right in the email.

I agree to saving the image screen shot to the hard drive, BUT I found that if you use the format menu and add picture, you get the image up front instead of as an attachment...HTH

Thank you, that definitely worked, in that I can see the screen shot in my outgoing mail using Outlook Express. I sent it to my work address, however, when I open my test mails with Outlook Web Access, the little icon for an image is there for an instant and then it vanishes. I'm thinking it may be a security setting on our state network and hoping I can do this pc to pc on the network. I'd send one to another work account via Outlook Web Access but it is really watered down. It doesn't even have an insert tab, so I'll check it out Monday. Thank You again!

Is that in Outlook or Outlook Express? Because I'm using Outlook Express 6 and I don't find an "add picture" command in the Format menu. That's why I suggested to go Insert and select Picture (which doesn't make it an attachment BTW.....it puts it right in the body of the email). So is Outlook different or am I missing something?

I also use Outlook Express 6, goto format-background-picture-you get the picture in the body of the E-mail,no attachments involved...Insert results in an attachment being placed...

juppy, I did it exactly the way you said and it worked the way I wanted it to and thank you so much. What I was trying to explain is I've only tried it from home using O Express. When I sent it to my work Outlook account and checked it from home through Outlook Web Access, the little icon for an image is in the mail for a second and then it vanishes. I'm thinking it may just be some sort of security issue on the work network that it won't let images through that aren't attachments. I can't test at home with Outlook web access because it doesn't have all the functionality, like an insert tab. My daughter was waiting at an airport last night and I was telling her the story and using Outlook, she successfully sent a screen shot by putting it in word first.

100% know how to do this now (at least with Outlook Express). The images are now showing in my work account. Before sending: Format tab>Send Pictures with Message! Which, by the way, I was enabling when I was trying to embed them from the hosting site!

Okay, I see how you're doing that now. Yeah, that'd be another way to send a picture if you don't mind having it tiled in the background. I still disagree with your statement that Insert results in an attachment though, because it doesn't, it puts it right in the body of the email. I just sent myself an email this way to verify and it didn't do it as an attachment. That's what the "File Attachment" option in the Insert menu is for (above the Picture option).

No apology needed, mouse1......I was just beginning to think maybe we somehow had different features in the same program! It's cool though, no biggie.
