Question FrontPage 2003 Inquiry

Hi,

I asked this question in the MS Office forum on microsoft.com and dont understand the response. Can someone please tell me what I have to do in order to see the alignment I am using in FP as the same on the web?

ALSO, WHEN I PREVIEW WHAT I DID WHILE IN FP, IT DOESNT LOOK THE SAME AS THE DESIGN VIEW WITHOUT PUBLISHING IT YET. Any ideas?

Thank you!

MY QUESTION:
I have my webpage created in FP2003. My problem is, for example, in order
for my webpage to look like the one I have saved in FP, I have to move a
table a few lines down to have it appear the same; however when I do this, my FP saved webpage is looking different. Does this make sense?
Also, my text is not in the same location. Is there a way to have it save
it "as seen" in FP so that it is viewable the same way on the web?

ANSWER RECEIVED:
In general, what you are asking for is not possible.
Each browser is different and will render a page differently to other
browsers (even the same version of a browser can be set up to render pages
differently to others). Each PC used to view the site can have different
settings - screen resolution (which sets the maximum width for the
browser), large fonts, small fonts, colour depth - so many variables.

The design (or normal) view in FrontPage is not WYSIWYG, it merely suggests
that What You See is What You Might Get If You Are Lucky. The ideal test
is preview in Browser, and use different browsers, with different browser
sizes.

As for your specific problem - links to the finished page, and the page as
originally designed should help to diagnose any problems.

It probably looks different in the preview than on the site because of screen size. You are most likely viewing the page in smaller window in the preview and a larger window in the browser. The text is probably wrapping so it looks different. You could test this by viewing the page in a smaller window in your browser. You could design your page to fit in a specific area rather than to fill the screen. This way it won't wrap much and will be a bit more consistent across sizes. FP is a poor choice of an HTML editor and can be quite difficult to deal with issues like this. Dreamweaver is a better choice but more expensive.

It's amazing how it costs $200 for this rediculous program if it cant do what you want it to. Would absolute help? Do you know how to do this, like it will just keep it as-is. (if I am using the term wrong, please correct me), but this is BS with microsoft charging this much.
