Help, I would like your help. I would like to learn C++, my cousin has told me its the way to go, does anyone know any good books on C++ and are cheap in AUD (Australian Dollars), or a good site that provides a FREE tutorial.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you, Timothy Pollock

Hi poloktim,
To start programming C++ you first need a compiler. There are two availble for free: Borland C++Builder Compiler and Bloodshed Dev-C++. Borland only provides the compiler, no editor (or IDE), so you'll need to use a text editor like Notepad or EditPad. The Bloodshed compiler comes with an IDE, so you're set. As for tutorials, these should keep you busy for a while. Also, read through this thread which answers a few more quesitons. Hope that helps.

Borland USED to have an IDE in its free compilers. And, the best part is, you can still get this product for $20 USD. It is included in some software packages, including the one I recommend in my sticky post "Borland C++ 5.02".
The book included with that product, though, is crummy. Try to get soemthing like "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days" or something in that series -- they're usually quality books.
