Program to Find/Replace text across multiple files

Ive been having a need for changing the same HTML code across several web pages, and im getting rather sick of having to do it all manually. I know there are some programs which can do this, but can anyone here suggest any good ones before I have to go googling? Obviously im hoping for something free, and works decent.

TIA

Try EditPadLite: http://www.editpadlite.com/editpadlite.html

You can open any number of files at once and run a find/replace across all open files.

Try this:

if that doesn't do the trick.

I have just recently found out about php includes

Just throw the code you want to edit 20 times into a file and name it, lets say, menu.inc

Now, that menu.inc will be your menu for every page. All you have to do is add this code to where your .inc code was

Quote:
include("menu.inc");
?>

Also change the page type to php instead of htm, html...

This can also be done for your headers/footers.
I'm new to this aswell, Statica posted this in my trend, Link Here

Includes are great, but they will only work with ASP/PHP/etc. powered sites. For standard HTML, you would still have to update each individual page.

Yeah, and for a particular site im working on, I would be doing a great disservice to myself to have to convert all those pages to PHP!! although I'll consider it next time im developing another PHP/ASP site.
