Question starting a forum

Having been diagnosed with schizophrenia 5 years ago, i'm looking at starting a forum for mental health issues, i'd like some advice on where to start.

my ISP has 250MB webspace included in my package and im looking at a similar format of foums to here.(vbulletin or PhP nuke, dont quite understand yet whats what)

Im am completely clueless as how to get a forum up and running but i am willing to learn and give it a try.

any advice welcome.

There are several free message boards available:

http://www.phpbb.com/
http://www.fudforum.org/

You probably will have to have your ISP install a database for you, but each of the above documents how to install the actual forum software.

Good luck to you.

V-bulletin, the forum used here is pretty pricey. Nuke is still more of a CMS than a forum. SMF is another of the free ones that is pretty popular. Do you want to just have forums or do you want the capability to have blogs and articles. If you want the blogs then you would need a CMS like Joomla, Drupal, etc. which can be integrated into your forums.

delphiforums has a user-based start up feature that does everything for you. Last I heard it was still free.

You can have your forum up and running in about 30 minutes.

Just find a web host with fantastico and you will get a PHPBB licence free, so you can skin it all you want, mod it all you want, and with no adverts.

I recommend casehosting.com

Just sharing the love
