Making a family reunion webpage

Ok, I had this multi family reunion and I am suppose to build the website for the family reunion. Basicly I have no idea what to do. I have experimented with googlepages, but for some reason I'm not the type of person who likes to own his own website, or make one for that matter. Looks like I need to make this one quite a personal site but mainly its about the pictures and some sort of forum. Though I am not sure what are other people's reaction of it. So what is the best way to make the site?
I was thinking of either photobucket/fotopages external with the forums, though I'm not sure if I want it to be external since I also have some video's to upload to the site. Googlepages will do for that, but I'm still in the dark about how to make the pics and the forums. What do you suggest is the best way to make the site? photobucket looks fine, but fotopages has a better preset layout but I'm not really keen of showing the whole world my face
