Autorun CD

I need to make a CD that has only word documents open to an "index.doc" page when the CD is inserted into the drive. I have an exe. file that will autorun a CD to index.htm. I edited the exe. file and changed it to index.doc. The CD will autorun fine, open to the page index.doc and allow me to select hyperlinks to view the other word documents. The problem comes when I try to exit back to my desktop. When I click the "x" to close Word the document goes away but I have a gray screen and Word is still running. I can't close it out back to my desktop. The only way to close word is by using Ctrl-Alt-Del. Anyone know of a freeware program that will let me exit back to the desktop?
