Java goes open source?

Sun announced that java is going open source...any real implications to this? I guess it means that people could modify the source code, anything else going to change?

This will allow Sun Java to now be included in "out of the box" Linux installs. Up until now, distros had to use Blackdown Java.

This is highly possible. I don't believe MS Java is developed any more so it opens the door to have Java included as part of a standard installation and/or Windows update.
This, of course, is completely up to MS however.

I doubt if MS will use it. It's not just open source. It' GPL'd open source. Microsoft would have to open up probably a bit too much for their comfort.
