Looking for a script that will feed info from one part of my site to another

I have built a site on a subject which I often find snippets of news on and currently what I do is just ad a new article to the home page and put the previous article on a subpage of the home page. The site is in html.

This isn't a very good long-term plan.

Ideally, what I would like is to have a series of subpages with news items which I can feed the first few lines into the home page - I guess a bit like a news site does. But what I want is an internal feed - NOT a feed from another site.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can achieve this? Does anyone know of a script that would do this? I know that if I had the site using php and a database then I could probably achieve it but my php skills aren't currently up to that - and I'm not in a position to hire, yet.

Although I guess if ther ewas a php script I could insert then taht would be possible.

All suggestions welcome,

I don't know.

If it can do what I describe, then maybe. But so far I haven't found anywhere that would help me to do what it is I describe - and I'm not familiar enough with RSS to be able to know if that is possible or how to do it.

RSS basically enables you to send updates from the site with the person not having to go to your site.

It may be that all you want is a CMS like Joomla or Drupal where all you do is create some content. You have a section called latest news that you can display on the home page with a link to the full content. Play around with some of them at OpenSourceCMS and see if you find one that works for you.

Hi,
thanks for the links - I must say, they are totally awesome!

If I'd been aware of those possibilities before then I might have gone that route instead - but I didn't and I don't want to change everything. It looks like I'd have to dump alot of my design work to use one of those systems and I don't want to do that - I just want whatever code it is that feeds content from one part of a site to another.

You don't have to dump design. You just have to work it into their template. I or others here can help you do that.
