how to make a newsletter and manage subscription?

Hi Everyone,
i am so new to this forum environment, eventhough i have been following pcmech for 4-5 years. This is my first time posting a message here so hopefully I will find some answers.
I would like to learn about creating a professional looking newsletter. Is there anyone here who could guide me to a specific software. Free would be great of course
and also to manage subscription and maintain existing users, do i have to know a lot about coding?
I dont know where to start from and how it works so if someone could help me out to find a starting point. that would be great.

There are several ways to approach doing a newsletter. One would be to use one of the online design your own newsletter. These would use some preset templates and would charge a small fee. Another would be to come up with your own design and use a mailing list manager on your website to send out. For the design part you would need something like Dreamweaver, quite $$$ or another WYSIWYG editor. You may also consider paying someone to come up with a design for you. It really depends upon how big your mailing list is. With just a few people, you could even just send it out in plain text and build it from there.

That's a great question, MadFrog. It's something I'm trying to figure out. Right now I'm using a consultant but I want to create my own inhouse. I just downloaded MS Expressions Web and it seems pretty good. I'd be interested to hear what those who are more expert than me have to say about it.
