how to create a forum
how would i go about creating a forum, is it complicated? can a beginner do it fairly quickly? i need to make one before may

First off, that depends on your definition of "create". If you want to literally hand-code your own, it will certainly take a while - depending on how feature-filled you need it to be. Or do you need to simply get your hands on a pre-made software? vBulletin is an excellent forum software if you do not mind the price tag. Otherwise, take a look at Phorum and phpBB - both recommended. You can implement these forum softwares onto a hosted server and bam - you're good to go.

One of the hotter free boards now is SMF. PHPBB has had way too many bad vulnerabilities lately.
