c sharp.net where to start
ok I have taking intro to C and visual basic and maybe one or two programming courses in the past. At this point it was a long time ago. I have thought about this a few times and unfortunately it's hard to transition over for many reasons - especially since I'm top senior in my profession "tech support" for client/server based products. I have also been through college and don't want to spend the next 5 years going again. I have a family now and I don't have too much time. With that said: A friend was telling me that maybe learning and/or taking a object orientated course and than c sharp.net course could possibly get me in the door somewhere. Of course taking a cut in pay from being a senior in my profession might not be something I'd be interested in. I have liked programming enuf in the past, but wasn't an ACE at it either. hmmmm.
So my question is: What does it mean take some kind of an object orientated course? Like what? Any ideas on a course of action I could take. |

I would start by seeing if there are any internal apps your department might need and then you could use VB Express 2005 (search MS for it) to develop it. C/C# isn't a good language to start with, IMO.
I've been doing tech support for our products for about 2 years now and the customer requests for "add-ons" and custom side programs has become so great, I tend to handle those now. Moral of the story is to try to open the door where you are, let your people know you are interested and take the initiative and only good things can happen. |
