Suggestion on a language to learn

Hey everyone,

I used to do some slight web design when I was in my teens, mostly making "clan" websites etc but have lost touch with it since getting into the military. Now that I am back into the computer seen (hopefully fully without any hitches) I would love to get back into web design. I think my knowledge of HTML is still pretty decent with maybe a few cobbwebs but I wanted to know what everyone suggested as far as more powerful languages. I know PHP is probably most popular but I know of other such as old reliable javascript, ASP, and perl. I am not sure exactly what I will be making but it will most likely be a personal site at first to practice and hone my skills. Such things that may be added is forums, music on the page, new system, etc etc... Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing your replies.

HTML for web-coding is, obviously, essential as you've found out. Beyond that, I recommend knowing JavaScript, and CSS to supplement HTML as well as familiarity in PHP & MySQL.

I'll definitley agree with kram! You can do a whole lot with just HTML, JavaScript and CSS. W3Schools is an excellent resource to start refreshing on just about any web language.
