program to automatically register classes at university

first, the situation: Xavier has staggered online scheduling to make sure their servers aren't overloaded and give priority to students who have more credits. every 15 minutes, a new batch of students is aloud to register online. the problem is, most of the time people have class during their registration time and so they cannot register until well after their initial time, running the risk of losing spots in popular classes.

what i am thinking is to write a program that would go to the website, log in as the user and input the CRN (ID number) of each class they want to register for. now, this is beyond my current skillset, but i want to learn how to do this kind of thing, and i have a full semester until the next registration period begins (November). i am hoping someone can point me in the right direction of what language to use and anything else i may be overlooking to start this project

I snagged some classes in the past by just recording mouse and keyboard events performed on a browser.

Not the most elegant way, but it only took about 20 minutes to set up and it worked.

thanks faulkner. i will look into that. i am kind of trying to make this into something that any student can use if possible
