Web hosting question?
I could not post this in the sticky at the top of the forum, error message about post being 274 days old, so I am posting here.
I am looking at ipowerweb and 1&1 for a webhost. I already have registered my domain with godaddy and did not host with them because of comments in this forum and others. Any comments on these two hosting companies? PS maybe this should be added to the sticky just to get the latest comments on webhosting. I know that things change and 274 days ago is a long time for the web. |

all depends what you want from it?
how many visiters you expecting? looking to use PHP? ASP? databases? the best host depends on what you want from the host, they specialise some offer everything but why pay for things you dont need? |

The sticky is mostly for reference. It is a place where people can brag/nag about their hosts. You can post in it regardless of the warning. You just have to check the box down at the bottom.
Still probably best to post a question here. Most of what I have heard is bad about both of those hosts.

My brother used 1and1 for his hosting, and I use their domain service, and he hasnt told me of any problems with the host (just has been with them a few months). However, I'm pretty sure that they are raising their prices for basic hosting from $3 to something around $4.

Remember, you always get what you pay for... if you only pay $3/month, expect $3 a month worth of service (in other words, probably crappy).
I have not used either host, but I'm speaking in a general sence as this rule pretty much always applies. |

Thanks for the replies.
The site will be an e-commerce site. I know that both of these are lower cost sites but would be willing to spend more for a good host site that offers good security. Any other recommendations? |
