A BF2 clan website

So i graduated on 2001 from FIT in NYC and i took some web developing classes
since i graduated i have not touched any web developing tools
i now work for an insurance company and sell car insurance.

at night time i play BF2 ALOT and im thinking of getting a clan and hosting my own servers for BF2 with our own rules.
Also i just got into SOCOM for ps2 which i gotta say is very addictive its not BF2 but its pretty good

so i wanted to start a clan and create a web site for my clans for both bf2 and socom
i been looking at alot of clan web site and they all seem the have the same basics forums and player info recurting options and such

What program would you guys recommend i use to make this site
the last time i made a site was with flash mx i dont know if maybe dream weaver its easier
i just need like a little kick start and then i can get it going on my own

what do you guys suggest are there any site making program that already have what im looking for?

any one make their own site for a clan here ? whats the best way to go about it

You might have gotten better responses if you just said that you needed help building a website. Some people may read your post and not have any clue on a clan site.

For building a site you will need to separate it into 2 parts:

Part 1 - Site Design
-Come up with ideas on a look for the site.
-Flesh those ideas out using Photoshop, Illustrator or other graphic program.
-Take that design and turn it into HTML.
-Dreamweaver is certainly the most popular and best WYSIWYG HTML editor around. Plenty of other ones around. I use an older version of Homesite for most of my work but it is for hand coding.
-Decide on style, font color, hyperlink color, image placement, etc.

Part 2 - Turning it in to a usable site.
It isn't enough to just have a site that is strictly HTML. You now need to turn your site into something functional. Blogs, CMS and/or forums are probably something that you are going to want. So you will need to take your HTML and convert it into a template that you can use to make your site usable.

Finish part 1 and then post back and we will help with part 2.

I need a website that would only give clan members access to forums. Clan members will have their own user name and password to access their profiles and things. Alot more, but basically what im looking for. I never did anything like this with FlashMX, I havent used flash mx in a while. So if im going to have to learn it all over again i want to know what you guys use.

Even further then that what would it take to host this thing on my own server

this is one of the main question, how big should i make my site
800x600 is too small and if i make it 1024 x 786 might be too big for some user, what size u guys suggest

ok so i started my site

I got the home page down and the basic look for it done in illustrator and photoshop
then i went out and got me a html book HTML for dummies to get my self started if you guys know of any good books or good tutorial by all means..
played around with html a lil and i gotta say its very addictive

so once i got a lil too much html for one day i started to mess around with the tutorial here in PCMECH
how to make your own server i followed the tutorial and this is what i got from it
i created a user name and password for mysqyl or something and then went to the no.ip site and installed that. then i changed the ip address of my router to the one that was given to me by no-ip. now what im really lost

umm but if any one can help me with the next step that would be great
once i set this up i would be able make a web site and have my own server to out put it to the internet..
