Need a Little Help

Hey all

So next weekend, my FIRST Robotics team (#1444) will be going to the St. Louis Regional. At the competition, there will be about 40 other teams that we will need to get info about. In past years, we have gone around to each team and asked them about their robot (drive systems, strengths, average points scored in a match, etc.) and then recorded the results on paper. This year, we have decided to do everything on a computer. Our first thought was to use a Microsoft Access database and have one computer keep the master file and the other would get results and periodically update the other. However, I thought it might be easier if we use an online system. I have no trouble writing an online database to store team info and have users be able to add, update, and remove teams, but my real problem is connecting multiple computers.

At the competition, I am unsure whether there will be internet access or not. If there is, our problems are solved. I will just store the website on our team's host and we just connect to that website whenever we need to. However, we may only have the option of a local network. If that is the case, will it still be reasonable to have an online system or will it make more sense to just use the Access method?

If we do use an online system over a local network, how will this be done? How do I host the website on one computer and have the other connect to it and update it?

Thanks!

Why not just use an excel spreadsheet?

Well, that was another option. It would be nice, though to update on database (through a website or whatever), that way we can have multiple computers getting info, but it all goes to the same place.

Hmm, that might be a valid option. The more I discussed this with the team, the more we started to like the idea of just using an Excel spreadsheet. We will probably end up just doing that.
