Acquiring a domain name?
There is a domain name that I want to own. In going online, I see all these business who will give you one for a price.
What is the best way of going about determining if someone else already has the name I want and of obtaining my own domain name? Thanks

All of the registering sites have a "test to see if your choice is available" type search function.
If its available you can usually click a I Want It type purchase now button.

never put the name into a browser to test it, and keep to reputable domain registers otherwise they may steal whatever domain name you are looking up

If all you want to do is register a domain name, I recommend godaddy.com, they are cheap and dependable. Their hosting leaves something to be desired though, I'd recommend a different host.
