I am trying to locate free website promotion tools. I am trying to promote one business site for a family member and the other is a blog that I am trying to get off the ground. I have search the web and have not found any tools that seem to work. I am looking for some input from the forum.

Try looking at sitepoint.com and the fourms http://sitepoint.com/forums

There won't be one "killer app" that will do what you want. Often, it's chosing the right domain name, keywords, purchasing some ads, having people link to the site, and getting visitors from word-of-mouth testimonials.

If it's an online store, you will have to develop some credability and have content/products that people want. Providing email, phone, and mailing address info goes part way to estabilishing credibility.

If you want promotion your website you must have website search engine friendly, and then submit to google, free directory, article directory. And create nice content and fresh content because search engine love fresh content.
