High Bandwidth Hosting
Hey everyone. I'm looking for some opinions on the planet for very high bandwidth hosting such as video streaming and high graphical sites with a lot of content. Maybe about 5000 hits daily or more. I've never dealt with them. Is there better alternatives?
Thanks |

You mentioned the word planet? Did you mean these guys:
http://www.theplanet.com/ If so - my company leases 8 servers from them and really really like the company. |

Yes exactly them. The Planet. How does their bandwidth hold up? Even during very high spikes and many users accessing the site at once. They have a lot to choose from in their dedicated server list. One server for the site itself should be enough?

I've toured the Dallas location...They have THOUSANDS and Thousands of computers in the building. You would be accessing one of them and not their web site
![]() We use 7 of the servers to host accounting software SQL databases and never have bandwidth issues...Every once in a while one of clients might complain...But the performance is is always on their end. |

All right thanks for the help EzyStvy. I have one more question. If your getting about 5000-6000 hits daily, a 100mbit line should theoretically be enough? But if 5000 users were to connect at the same time on the other hand, then it would slow down right?
We just ordered an 8 core machine with 6 gb of ram and raid 5. The server itself should be powerful enough, its bandwidth that's on the priority for us. Do you know how much they charge for over usage of the bandwidth limit? |
