It can be anything, really.
The syntax of any programming language has a certain order to it and certain rules in order to make it a valid statement. If you violate the order or rules, and you end up with a problem with your statement syntax, it will throw what you see as a "syntax error" For example, the proper syntax of a simple math equation may go like this: 1+1=2 If you incorrectly put something like this: 1+/2=2 You would end up with a syntax error.
