My website is virus infected
Hi folks,
My company just had a new website developped for us by a webdesigner. After a month of hosting, we keep getting messages from the webserver that the site is suspended due to virus activity from within our network. At other times we may not be able to access the site from withing our network, but others from other towns can access. After our webdesigner got the site up and running again, we just had another message today that the site has been suspended because of a phishing virus on the site. Now what can be done to stop this and how can we trace the virus? ![]() ![]() Thanks |

Is your company hosting the website itself or is an ISP hosting the company's website? If it is the later then I would contact the ISP, for maybe it isn't a virus but rather the ISP thinking that one of your company's scripts is when in reality it isn't. If it the first then maybe the security it set to high for something. I am no expert, but after writing a Flash Script I found it rather easy for someone to put an fake email address down (if they're being dishonest) when they fill out the form and submit it. Something along that line where the anti-virus kicks in because of something similar could be doing that to you. Like I said I'm no expert on this, I am just guessing.

Our website is hosted by the ISP. But the latter doesn't admit to having issues with the website. Frankly I'm stuck and have now resorted to using Outlook without the website functioning. But I've been given a deadline to resolve this issue and I have no headway yet. Everyone I've contacted seems to see the ISP hypothesis, except they themselves.

I think this may be something your webdesigner needs to get involved with.

SokaRakos, Sorry to hear about your virus on your brand new site. Do you think you will ever use that web designer again??

I think that you need to hire another web designer and developer to go over all the code and make sure everything is patched up and there is no vulnerabilities and then get your site up and running again.
